Dog Training Tips from Jim Beinlich

Help dogs keep their cool
As temperatures approach, or enter, triple digits, don't forget about your fourlegged friends. Dogs do not regulate heat the same way that humans do, i.e. sweat glands in the skin.
Correction appropriate for aggressive dogs
The use of corrections in dog training is a hotly debated topic today. The current trend is "never yell at your dog or give physical corrections" because "aggression leads to more aggression - violence begets violence."
'Dangerous' breeds aren't the only biters
As a trainer and behaviorist, I have worked with, and rehabilitated, hundreds of aggressive dogs. I also train aggression, for personal protection, sport and K-9. It is my specialty. Training myths debunked

Lost and Found
It is a fear many of you live with every day. You come home to find that your beloved companion is missing. Frantically, you turn the house upside down, check behind every door, and scour the yard. Nothing in response but your own labored breathing and a sore throat, from screaming his name over and over.
Pet Anxiety
Some pet owners in our classes describe situations in which their dog, when left alone, goes into a state of panic, and will engage in any number of stress-reducing behaviors.
Puppies!
A new puppy is a wonderful thing.  It is cute, playful, curious, and full of life and energy. These same traits, however, can try anyone’s patience if you do not know how to handle them.
Dog Training Myths
What I’ve decided to do with this article is answer some of the questions that I have received over the years regarding dog training and behavior -- “MythBusters” style.
