Lasting bonds formed through ministry
Geri Nixon is enthralled as Ruby, an adorable poodleterrier, cocks her shaggy head and gives one of those aren't-I-cute puppy looks. "Oh, my. I had dogs and cats and miss them terrible," Nixon says, patting the dog's white fur over and over.
Path of leash resistance
The topic of unleashed dogs brings out ferocious emotions like few other pet issues, as we found out when we asked people to share their experiences. On one side of the debate is the "born free" contingent — those owners who say their dogs deserve a chance to enjoy the great outdoors unfettered. NEW YORK - When Merlin was diagnosed last year with a rare form of lymphosarcoma in her lungs, Christine Mazzucca knew the vet bills for her beloved cat would be huge. She was right: The bill topped $6,000, though she was fortunate that nearly half was covered by Merlin’s pet insurance policy.
Pet owners increasingly likely to pick cars with muddy paws in mind
Gone are the days of throwing old Fido into the back of the pickup truck, a bandanna around his neck and miles of unfettered highway travel ahead. He may still travel far, but these days he’s likely to hit the roads with a bit more style and protection.
